A practical benchmark for what replacement windows should cost fitted in the UK. Compare size, opening layout, glazing, region and project size using the same current-market model behind Window Price Calculator.

These are modelled fitted-market centres, not supply-only frame prices. They include standard installation and ordinary 20% VAT. The figures are designed as realistic comparison benchmarks rather than binding installer quotations.

Window price by size & layout
A simple price-per-square-metre figure is misleading. Opening sashes, mullions and transoms change fabrication and hardware costs, so layout matters alongside overall dimensions.

Regional Window Price Index
UK average is set to 100. Regional variation is applied to the fitted-market estimate because labour, demand, access and business overheads vary geographically. It is not applied as though the physical window itself costs 18% more in London.

What specification changes do
The model keeps the physical window specification separate from the regional market adjustment. This makes it easier to see why two quotations for “the same size window” can be materially different.

Why a 10-window job is cheaper per window
Survey, travel, setup, certification and installation overheads are spread across more units. Our model applies job-size efficiency primarily to the fitted-market part of the project rather than pretending manufacturers suddenly make the frames dramatically cheaper.

How the index is built
We do not take one industry average and repeat it. The model separates product specification, size, installation economics, region and uncertainty, then validates the output against independent market evidence.
Collect current pricing evidence
The research base currently covers 298 pricing and market pages across 118 websites, including live supplier prices, installer evidence, cost guides and datasets built from real UK quotes.
Model like-for-like specifications
Size, material, glass, colour, section count, opener layout and job size are modelled separately where the evidence supports a meaningful price difference.
Widen the range where uncertainty is higher
Approximate sizes, specialist products and less-certain regional evidence produce a wider fair range rather than false precision.
